DEAR News Of The Area,
Musing on the state of things in Australia it occurs to me that a strike might help put things into perspective.
I mean a strike by all the refugees and immigrants who keep the economy ticking over, our health system functioning, our trains and taxis running, our university doors open and our taste buds tickled.
Just one day without our IT specialists, doctors and lawyers, not to mention farm labourers and fruit pickers would bring the country to a halt and it would serve us right.
Think again, all those who abuse the Australian flag, making it the symbol of white supremacy.
As the song says, “We are one but we are many, and from all the lands on earth we come”.
It is not possible to look back. Our only choice is to keep going forwards.
Regards,
Margaret England,
Toormina.
