Coffs to host electric racing national titles

AUSTRALIA’s premier electric racing event is being held in Coffs Harbour this weekend.

The 2026 AUS PEV Nationals is being held over three big days of racing, from Friday, 21 August, to Sunday, 23 August at Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club.

The event is Australia’s national championship for personal electric vehicle (PEV) racing, featuring Electric skateboards (Esk8), and Electric unicycles (EUC).

The event includes national championship racing for multiple rider classes, a three-heat championship format, a new Novice class for first-time racers, and a team championship alongside the individual national titles.

The 2026 Nationals will also feature a structured championship format using an evolving grid system, where each heat shapes the next.

This format rewards consistency, progression, and racecraft.

Qualifying sessions will be held on Friday, 21 August, with the first two championship heats held on Saturday, 22 August.

The third championship heats and podium and national championship presentations will be held on Sunday, 23 August.

Electric Sports Racing Association’s Tas Ventouras encouraged Coffs Coast residents to come and check out the electric racing.

“I think the local Coffs community should come down because it’s something most people simply haven’t seen before,” he said.

“We’ll have some of the fastest electric skateboard and electric unicycle racers in Australia — along with international competitors — racing wheel-to-wheel on a proper kart circuit.

“These machines are capable of incredible acceleration and speeds, but what really surprises people is how physical and competitive the racing is, it’s very much motorsport, just in a completely different form.

“For Coffs residents, it’s also a chance to see a rapidly growing sport at its highest level in Australia, right here in their backyard.

“Whether you’re into motorsport, technology, action sports or you’re just looking for something different to watch with the family, I think there’ll be plenty to see.”
