PETER Allison has once again proven he’s one of Australia’s best surf lifesavers in his age group.
The 66-year-old Fernmount resident returned with a haul of medals from the recent Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Australian Pool Rescue Championships in Adelaide.
He came away with wins in his four individual events: the 100m obstacle race, the 100m manikin tow with fins, the 50m manikin carry, and the 100m manikin carry with fins.
He repeated his effort at last year’s Australian Championships by again winning all four races, and in doing so retained the Australian records he holds for all but the 100m obstacle race.
The life-long surf lifesaver also achieved team success at the Australian Championships.
He contested the 70 years and over line throw relay, and despite narrowly losing to the pair from Grange, Peter and his Kurrawa team mate still hold the national record they set last year, as well as the world record they set in 2024.
In the combined 200 years and over 4-person relays, Kurrawa finished seventh in the 4x50m obstacle relay, and fourth in the 4x50m medley relay – beaten by 0.19 of a second for the bronze medal.
Peter will look for further success at next year’s Australian Championships in Hobart.
