LETTER: Mullaway vandalism continues

The public toilet at Mullaway Headland after an overnight vandalism attack. Photo: Submitted.

DEAR News Of The Area,

IMAGINE being the hard-working cleaner faced with this scene at Mullaway Headland.

The local vandals heaped up the sanitary bins in the disabled toilet, covered them with toilet paper, and attempted to burn the lot.

Not the first time. Not even particularly imaginative given past outrages, just continuing stupidity.

There is a real problem at Mullaway, with a group of lawless young vandals, known by many and even to their parents, over several years.

We know of families driven to sell and move away by persistent attacks on their children, houses and gardens, if they become known to have complained to police or authorities.

While it is hard to understand what passes through these kids’ minds to want to repeatedly do such stupid and anti-social acts, it is past time that police act.

More CCTV surveillance of the area would be a start. Or maybe their parents (we know who you are) could step up and ask what the hell their kids are up to.

Regards,

Howard Dengate,

Safety Beach.
