LETTER: What algorithm do Test selectors use

LETTER: What algorithm do Test selectors use

DEAR News Of The Area,

The question for today is;

Will it be harder to pick who will be in the first test team to play New Zealand on 9 December 2026, or to pick the winning lotto numbers that week?

Yes, I know it’s hard, made even more difficult because the Australian Test Selectors have confused their Lotto-picking algorithm with the process of picking the best cricketers to represent Australia and then the correct batting order.

Not to worry, have a go. If it all gets too hard, just pick the Lotto numbers.

Regards,

Graeme Wilson,

Woolgoolga.
