I AM writing to you in the hope of getting publicity for the plight of the people from Glenreagh who have lost their regular bus run to Coffs Harbour.
Earlier this year the owner of the Glenreagh Bus Service was given very short notice that the subsidised funding from Community Transport would cease from the end of February 2026.
The reason given was falling numbers of people using the weekly service.
Our community relied on the weekly trip to Coffs Harbour for both medical and personal appointments.
An alternative arrangement was offered by Community Transport but it fell short of the service provided by the owner/operator of the Glenreagh Bus Service.
We have since learned that a number of people would use the service but thought that they were not eligible.
Had we been given time to run a recruiting campaign we would have been able to boost the number of passengers. We need the funding to be allocated again so that our lifeline is restored, as some of our residents have no other way of getting to Coffs Harbour.
