NVC Group, a local not-for-profit organisation, was honoured at the National Australian HR Institute (AHRI) Awards held in Melbourne on Friday 5 December.
The AHRI is a peak body for Human Resources in Australia, and these awards recognise Human Resource professionals and organisations that pursue excellence and lead with purpose.
NVC Group won the Best Organisational Development and Change Strategy Award, which recognises outstanding initiatives in transforming workplaces through strategic people practices.
NVC Group was commended for tackling post-pandemic workforce shortages in the local area through tailored training, and ethically recruiting international workers.
This built a stable, skilled team aligning with aged care reforms.
NVC Group’s People Support Manager Wilson Loyo, was also a finalist for HR Practitioner of the Year, an honour that reflects NVC Group’s commitment to cultivating a strong, people-centred workplace.
“At NVC Group, our focus has always been on providing safe, high-quality care to the local community,” Mr Wilson told News Of The Area.
“The workforce challenges intensified by COVID-19 highlighted the urgency of addressing future aged care needs.
“As we have learned about the issue of an ageing population and ongoing skill shortages, the Care Ready Program, delivered through NV College, provides practical, hands-on training and support for both international and local staff.”
NV College is open to all cohort groups, offering opportunities to upskill or pursue a meaningful, rewarding new career.
“Combined with tailored induction, mentoring, and ethical recruitment through the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme, NVC has built a stable, skilled workforce ready to meet aged care reforms and deliver outstanding care.”
Mr Wilson said the awards acknowledge the significant progress NVC Group has made in leading organisational change and building a culture grounded in adaptability, collaboration and long-term vision.
As the group grows, the business is always looking for great people, “whether it be providing quality home care for the elderly in our community or for students looking to train or re-train in a career in care through our colleges in Coffs Harbour and Macksville.”
