THOUSANDS flocked to Brelsford Park on Saturday 20 December for the annual Coffs Carols, where families were treated to an evening of music, joy, and Christmas magic.
Headlining the event was Mick Harrington, 2021 grand finalist on The Voice, who opened the night with a heartfelt message. “More than ever, we all need to look after each other and stick together,” he told the crowd.
He then led everyone in a rousing rendition of the unofficial national anthem, “I Am Australian”, with voices ringing out across the park.
Councillor Julie Sechi flawlessly emceed the night, guiding the audience through a showcase of local talent.
Among the standout performances was Imogen Daymond whose voice captivated the crowd.
Daymond, performing at the Carols for the sixth consecutive year, said, “I’ve been coming here for the past six years and it keeps growing every year.
“This year is the biggest ever.”
Mayor Nikki Williams reflected on the evergreen impact of the Carols on the community.
“I remember being so impressed with the Julie Ross Dance Studio when I was a little girl.
The Coffs Christmas Carols are such a wonderful tradition,” she said.
Other performers who lit up the night included Glen Price, Adelaide Robinson, Coco Farby, Heather Rose, Louise Richards, Shan Kae, and Vince Sibio, along with a culturally rich performance by Polynesian dancers.
While the performers wowed the crowd, it was the arrival of Santa Claus that sent children into a frenzy.
Known for his spectacular entrances – parachuting in or riding a trike – this year Santa switched things up, arriving on a beach buggy in board shorts after a day at the beach.
Children formed a 100-metre guard of honour captivated by the magic of Christmas.
Once on stage Santa mingled with the crowd, handing out lollies and spreading festive cheer.
The night concluded with a dazzling fireworks display, capping off an unforgettable evening for families and a perfect start to the festive season.
