Table tennis clubs in Coffs Harbour receive a defibrillator

MEDICAL emergencies are usually a surprise, so it always helps to be prepared.

With this in mind, members of the Coffs over 50s and Coffs Harbour Table Tennis clubs recently gathered to celebrate the donation of a new defibrillator to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of players and visitors.

The machine was donated by Teman Communities, which operates The Shores by Teman retirement village.

NSW sales manager Rueben Couper, said the organisation is focused on building strong community connections.

“We’re aiming to create a lifestyle village and bring the community together,” he said.

The defibrillator is a great asset and we hope this is the start of an ongoing relationship with clubs.”

Presidents Wayne Brady (Coffs over 50s) and Reece Baker (Coffs Harbour Table Tennis) said the donation was greatly appreciated.

“This is a very generous and much needed addition to care for members of our club, whose average age is around 70,” Mr Brady said.

“Ours is a club that has been operating for 31 years and offers a safe playing area unhindered by the weather.

“It is a healthy pursuit for the mature members of the Coffs Harbour region.

“Having the defibrillator on hand gives our members peace of mind and could make all the difference in an emergency.”

Following the presentation, Teman representatives joined members for several friendly games, highlighting the club’s welcoming and social atmosphere.
