COFFS Harbour Comets and Sawtell Panthers teams have won multiple premierships after emerging victorious during Group 2 Junior Rugby League’s grand final day at C.ex Coffs International Stadium.
The Coffs Harbour Comets won three premierships, and the Sawtell Panthers were the next-best club with two.
Both the Coffs Harbour Comets under-15s and under-14s sides capped off tremendous undefeated seasons with a premiership win.
The Comets’ under-15s were 22-12 victors against the Smithtown Tigers, their third straight premiership win.
The Comets’ under-14s were dominant in a 34-4 belting of the Bowraville Tigers.
The Comets’ under-16s triumphed 30-20 against the Smithtown Tigers.
The Sawtell Panthers under-17s Girls side finished their season undefeated, capped off with a 20-12 win against the Woolgoolga Seahorses.
The Sawtell Panthers Under 15s Girls won their premiership, triumphing 26-20 against Macleay Valley.
The Bowraville Tigers won the under-13s premiership, defeating the Smithtown Tigers 18-14.
The Macleay Valley under-13s Girls triumphed 32-10 against the Bowraville Tigers.
Coffs Harbour Comets Junior Football Club president Bianca Curry explained what made the club’s junior sides so dominant.
“I think what has made our under-14s, 15s and 16s so successful this season is a combination of focus, team cohesion, mateship and a strong club culture,” she said.
“Many of these boys have played together for years, they know each other’s game, trust one another and genuinely play for each other.
“They’re also surrounded by experienced and dedicated coaches and support staff who give the players the tools they need, then empower them to go out and get the job done.
“As a club, we have a strong set of values that everyone has bought into.
“Those values are consistently reinforced by our leaders and lived by our players.
“That values-driven culture sets the standards for how we train, how we play and how we represent the Comets.
“When you combine that culture with mateship, discipline, trust and great coaching, it creates high-performing teams both on and off the field.”
