Opal Cove voluntary planning agreement on public exhibition

CITY of Coffs Harbour Council voted to place the draft Opal Cove Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) on public exhibition at its meeting on 23 April.

The draft VPA is tied to a development application for a subdivision of land which would see the creation of three community title lots, demolition of existing Opal Cove Resort structures (including pavilions and tennis courts), environmental protection works and dedication of land as public reserve.

The development application has been lodged with the City and is progressing.

“The draft VPA between the City and PT Investment Group Pty Ltd would see the developer construct a three-metre wide gravel footpath connecting James Small Drive to the existing walking trail at Pine Brush Creek Bridge,” City Planning and Communities Director Ian Fitzgibbon said.

“Additionally, the developer would part with a small parcel of land to ensure the new footpath remains entirely on public reserve.”

The development application seeks to create two new vacant lots with the third lot containing the existing Opal Cove Resort.

The vacant lots would be established north of the existing resort and sit adjacent to the City-controlled public reserve which includes Pine Brush Creek.
