NOMINATIONS for the annual Yandaarra Aunty Grace Roberts Awards close on Friday 29 May.
Presented by the City of Coffs Harbour in partnership with the Yandaarra Aboriginal Advisory Committee, the 2026 Awards recognise Indigenous community members who lead by example and contribute to stronger community connections and improved quality of life for First Nations people across the Coffs Harbour region. Featuring seven categories , the awards honour the legacy of Aunty Grace Roberts, who worked tirelessly for her community and is remembered for her leadership, guidance and lasting impact.
Mayor Nikki Williams said the council is seeking more nominations across the board.
“Whether they be high achievers or always willing to go the extra mile for others – this is the time to recognise them by putting them up for an award,” Mayor Williams said.
Yandaarra Aboriginal Advisory Committee Chair, Aunty Deb Dootson said, “It’s about recognising someone in your city – an Aunt, Uncle or group – who had done wonderful things.
“Nominating someone is easy. Just hop on the City of Coffs Harbour’s website and write the best story you can about the person you are nominating.”
Nominations are invited in the following categories (non-Aboriginal people can nominate an Aboriginal person or organisation):
● Aunty Grace Roberts Memorial Community Development Award
● Aunty Award
● Uncle Award
● Aboriginal Community Organisation or Business of the Year Award
