Coffs to host Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships

COFFS Harbour is set to host Australia’s best young rugby league talent for the third straight year.

Following the success of the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League (ASSRL) Championships over the past two years, the C.ex Coffs International Stadium will once again host the national event, from Saturday, 4 July, to Saturday, 11 July.

This year’s Championships features an expanded and more comprehensive competition format.

In addition to the return of the Under 18s male and female teams representing mainland states and territories, this year’s championships will also include Under 16s teams.

The National Championships have long been an integral part of the NRL’s talent identification program, providing an important stepping-stone for many current NRL and NRLW players.

It has had a long-standing reputation as an important conduit for the development of Australia’s future professional and senior players, showcasing the rugby league stars of tomorrow in tournament conditions.

President of the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges and host organisation, Tim White, highlighted that the return to Coffs Harbour has been made possible through a strong collaborative partnership between the NRL, Coffs Harbour City Council, and the ASSRL.

“The Championships in 2024 and 2025 provided outstanding experiences for players, coaching staff, supporters, and the broader community,” he said.

“The decision to return was a natural one, supported by continued confidence in the region’s high-quality facilities, infrastructure, and community engagement.

“These Championships will not only showcase elite-level competition but also reinforce the region’s capability to successfully host major sporting events and deliver exceptional experiences for all participants and spectators.”
