FOLLOWING the outstanding success of its earlier Latin Carnival concert in Nambucca, the Coffs Harbour City Orchestra is bringing the vibrant sounds and infectious rhythms of Latin America to Woolgoolga this Father’s Day.
The concert, to be held at the Woolgoolga CeX on Boundary Street, will feature the orchestra’s lively Latin American repertoire, with a special addition to the line-up — 12-year-old trombone player Zara.
A student at Bellingen High School and member of the Bellingen Youth Orchestra, Zara will perform with both the Coffs Harbour City Orchestra and Bellingen Big Band.
She regularly rehearses with both ensembles, as well as the Coffs Harbour City Orchestra, demonstrating an impressive commitment to music at such a young age.
Music is very much a family affair, with Zara’s mum, Stephanie, also a member of the Coffs Harbour City Orchestra, where she plays clarinet.
The Nambucca concert attracted a large audience, with so many people attending that some patrons were standing at the rear of the entertainment centre.
This Father’s Day, families can combine the concert with lunch at the CeX bistro, while the bar will be available during the performance.
Zara and Stephanie will be celebrating the day with Dad and Grandad before enjoying the concert together.
The orchestra will also present a free Latin American concert for residents and guests at Marion Grove Retirement Village on Saturday, September 5.
