FORMER NRL star Clinton Toopi has visited Coffs Harbour for an important initiative.
The former New Zealand international and current NRL State of Mind Program Manager was in town as part of the Youi Community Scrum program.
The program delivers interactive programs focused on mental wellbeing, resilience and connection for communities recovering from significant weather events.
The initiative has delivered programs across the Northern Rivers, Brisbane, Townsville, Melton, and Gympie regions affected by major floods and severe storms.
It has also provided funding and equipment to local schools and rugby league clubs in these affected regions, helping to replace training gear damaged or lost during these events.
The Coffs Harbour Comets are one of 250 participants from local schools and rugby league clubs that the program will engage with in communities across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Toopi highlighted the importance of the program.
“Through programs including State of Mind, GAAME and League Stars Inspire, we’re helping young people build resilience, strengthen their wellbeing and stay connected through sport,” he said
“The program also provides much-needed funding and equipment to local schools and rugby league clubs, helping replace damaged or outdated training gear so more kids can get back on the field and enjoy the game they love.”
