COFFS Harbour Creative Arts Group’s (CHCAG) annual art exhibition All Creatures Great and Small is open to the public at the Coffs Harbour Showground Gallery and Studio until 8 October.
It is the group’s only judged exhibition, with entries open exclusively to CHCAG members.
CHCAG President Sue Roberts officially opened the exhibition last Sunday, 23 August, and presented prizes to the category winners.
“We were very fortunate to have well-known and highly respected artist David Southgate available to judge the entries across five categories,” she said.
“He also provided written feedback on his choices, offering valuable insight to the artists.
“Every year I am amazed by the variety of creatures on display and the artistry employed.
“Thanks to our generous sponsors, being able to award prizes adds another element to the exhibition opening.”
Prizes were awarded in five categories:
Oil/Acrylic:
First – Annie Houston for Chooks in the Yard.
Second – Jos Challis’ Cooling Off.
Highly Commended – Maggy Hayne’s Ding the Dog.
Watercolour:
First – Peter Wiseman, Milly painting.
Second – Glenda Gilmour Hello Cocky
Highly Commended – Susan Massey’s Kookaburra.
Pastel:
First – Denise Baffis’ Ripples.
Second – Marion Beer’s Devotion.
Highly Commended – Joy Bentley’s Just Walk on By.
Drawing:
First – Ann Connor’s Catch Me If You Can.
Second – Denise Baffis’ Francis.
Highly Commended – Glenda Gilmour’s Rainbow.
Mixed Media:
First – Karen Gorzynska’s The Critically Endangered Pangolin.
Second – Isabella Brandli’s Neighbour.
Highly Commended – Annie Houston’s The Three Bears.
The People’s Choice winner from the previous exhibition Self Portrait: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly was also announced, with Ann Connor taking the prize for her watercolour, Face of Many Colours.
Ann’s work was a runaway winner, attracting more than a quarter of the votes.
Entry to All Creatures Great and Small is free. The gallery is open from 10 am to 2 pm Monday to Saturday.
