COFFS Harbour voters will head to the polls on Saturday 12 December, with the NSW Electoral Commission confirming the date for the by-election following the resignation of Paul Amos.
The NSW Electoral Commission will run the by-election to fill the single Councillor role, as required when a vacancy arises at this point in a Council term.
Community members are encouraged to prepare for the by-election by enrolling now if they have recently become eligible to vote, and checking that their enrolment details are correct, particularly if they have recently moved.
Voting is compulsory, and enrolment details can be easily checked or updated online through the NSW Electoral Commission website.
Mayor Nikki Williams said having your enrolment details up to date was an important first step in taking part in the by-election.
“A by-election is an opportunity for the community to choose a candidate who will represent them on Council, so I encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to make sure their enrolment details are up to date,” she said.
“The City will continue to share information with the community about the by-election, including ways to vote, as arrangements are confirmed.”
