2026 National Rotary Cartoon Award winners to be announced

THE winners of the 2026 National Rotary Cartoon Awards will be announced on Saturday 12 September at the official opening and awards ceremony at the Cartoon Gallery on City Hill.

The competition, now in its 38th year, is open to cartoonists and illustrators and run by the National Cartoon Gallery in Coffs Harbour in conjunction with Rotary.

Gallery manager, Bruce Nelson, told News Of The Area the gallery had received more than 230 entries this year from some of the best-known practitioners in Australia and New Zealand.

“With categories including sport, politics, caricature, comic strip, and the special category ‘In the future’, every entrant will have at least one of their submissions on display making for a very colourful and thought-provoking exhibition,” Mr Nelson said.

“It’s a really important award as it celebrates an artform that fearlessly pokes fun at politics, current events, public figures, and government.”
