THE All One Under the Sun Cup was held at the Coffs Coast Synthetics over the long weekend.
This is the second time this tournament has been held in Coffs Harbour and is a celebration of football, unity and cultural diversity.
There were five teams including African All Stars, Ezidi Team (Armidale), Coffs Chin United, Ezidixan FC (Coffs Harbour) and MNC. Countries represented included Iraq, Syria, Congo, Burindi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, and Myanmar, alongside Australian-born players.
The winner of the tournament was Ezidixan FC Coffs Harbour with the runners-up honour going to Ezidi Team, who travelled from Armidale for the weekend.
The final score was 1-0, with the winning goal kicked by Miyasar Omar.
Players’ player for the tournament was Revan Dalaf (Ezidixan FC Coffs Harbour) and Golden Boot for the series was Yaser Omar (Ezidixan FC Coffs Harbour).
The AOUTS Cup has grown from the All One Under the Sun program, which brings people together across cultures to promote inclusion, connection, belonging, education and empowerment.
STARTTS (Service for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors) is the lead agency.
“The All One Under the Sun Cup celebrates the contribution players from migrant and refugee backgrounds make to football in Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas and is an opportunity to celebrate everyone’s cultural heritage and love of the game,” Project Manager STARTTS, Naomi Steinborner, told News Of The Area.
The AOUTS Cup was supported by the Ubuntu Foundation, Rural Health research Foundation STARTTS, and Multicultural NSW.
Recently launched All One Under the Sun Programs include Change the Story, to create music and film clips, and Coffee Cart Conversations, to create cross cultural dialogue and understanding and empathy across cultures.
