MATT Allan has been recognised as the best golfing professional in the state.

The Coffs Harbour Golf Club professional was named the NSW PGA Club Professional of the Year at the 2026 NSW Golf Industry Awards.

Allan said it was very nice to be recognised for his contribution to the sport.

“I don’t do this for awards, but it’s really, really nice to be recognised,” he said.

“Also too, it’s not just me, it’s the golf club, it’s all the members, it’s all their award as well for all their support, the customers over the years who have supported me in my business.”

For the past 22 years he has been the Head Golf Professional at Coffs Harbour Golf Club.

He played on The Australasian Tour for four years and was assistant PGA professional at the Eastern Golf Club in Melbourne, before starting as the owner/operator of The Golf Centre in Coffs Harbour in 2004.

He has had more than a 40-year association with the Coffs Harbour Golf Club, starting his golf there then completing his PGA Traineeship at the club.

The NSW winner is now in the running for the Australian PGA Club Professional of the Year.
