Izzy dolls join local ambulance service

GLENREAGH Creative Group members have donated over 40 Izzy dolls to the NSW Ambulance Service, Coffs Harbour Station.

The presentation on Thursday 26 March included the two voluntary Community First Responder (CFR) Units within the Orara Valley, Glenreagh and Nana Glen.

President of the Glenreagh Creative Group Elizabeth Shipman said the Izzy Dolls started life as an activity in knitting for the residents of the local Masonic Aged Care home.

“They were very plain little fellows, and were set aside, unfinished.

“Margaret Preshaw from the Creative Group brought them home to finish them.

“Another member Moira Gibbons helped give life to another load of unfinished Izzy dolls.”

The creative ladies are very proud of how their Izzy doll story has unfolded.

“Today these sweet little teddies bring joy, hope and comfort to the children who are experiencing a traumatic time in their life and require an ambulance.”

Julie Whitton, Paramedic and Coffs Harbour Station Manager thanked the ladies on behalf of NSW Ambulance and said the little “cool dudes” would play an important role in calming and comforting paediatric patients.
