LIKE many people across our region, I’ve been following the recent media coverage regarding allegations of migrant worker exploitation in the Coffs Coast area.

While these reports have understandably generated strong emotions and concern, I want to encourage our community to approach this issue with care, compassion, and a commitment to the facts.

It’s important to remember that allegations and individual experiences should be properly investigated by the relevant authorities, and that we should avoid making assumptions about entire industries, businesses or groups of people based on media reports or social media commentary.

Many farmers and agricultural employers in our region work hard to provide safe, fair and supportive workplaces.

If you’re concerned about worker welfare, employment practices or migrant worker rights, please seek information from trusted sources rather than relying solely on social media posts, rumours or speculation.
