LETTER: It wouldn’t pass the pub test

LETTER: It wouldn’t pass the pub test

DEAR News Of The Area,

HOW can any of our councillors, let alone the mayor, think it is appropriate to land a major upheaval to our Council’s policies just minutes before a council meeting is to start?

This means other councillors, (unless they have been approached before, and I don’t think that’s in the rule book), have no time to read it, let alone research it.

How can this possibly make for good governance of our local area?

Add to this that the proposal overturns many valuable climate policies, and you become both infuriated and embarrassed.

Did our mayor not see the footage from Nepal?

Did she not see what was happening in Europe in the past few months?

Does she not know what faces us this summer?

Shame, Mayor Nikki Williams. Rescind this motion now.

Regards,

Cheryl Cooper,

Coffs Harbour.
