CONGRATULTIONS to the Coffs Coast Multicultural Society on the fabulous International Food and Dance Festival held at the Jetty Markets last Sunday.
Thank you to all of the enthusiastic performers resplendent in their national dress, who entertained the crowd and gave us glimpses into their culture through traditional music and dance.
The willingness of a small group from the Coffs coast community to share this experience and entertain us in order to promote multiculturalism makes me proud to live in this part of the world.
An event such as this would be impossible if we lived in a monoculture.
When people from all over the world, with such diverse cultural traditions and values, can work together to deliver an event like this, I am confident that those cynical politicians seeking to use immigration to arbitrarily divide the community are going to fail.
