DEAR News Of The Area,
YOUR letters complaining about the cost of renewable infrastructure are correct.
It is costly.
I’d like to remind the writers that new construction is costly, e.g. the Coffs Harbour bypass, the inland railway and Sydney’s third airport.
The existing poles and wires, coal fired power stations and transformers plus the cost of mining and transporting coal didn’t come for free.
We paid for them.
Our current power bills have been inflated by the profiteering of (foreign owned) gas companies and the ongoing maintenance of the existing power system.
Nothing comes for free; use your electricity wisely.
Regards,
John COURCIER,
Coffs Harbour.
