Historic Coffs Show had something for everyone

THE COFFS Agricultural Show on 1-2 May had “something to suit everyone”.

New exhibitors included the Supertank Fishing Show, Outback Jack’s Stockman’s Show and a live cooking demonstration by local chef Matt Donovan from the Coffs Surf Club Restaurant and Bar, which drew enthusiastic crowds.

Adding to the diverse program of events were old favourites including the woodchop, the cat show, and the veteran, vintage and classic cars display.

There were a total of 658 entries in the Pavilion for competitions including cooking, craft, photography, knitting, produce, flowers and Lego.

“[There was] a wonderful display from our local schools,” Show Secretary Kaye Hamilton told News Of The Area.

The Junior Most Successful exhibitor was awarded to James Berghan and the overall Most Successful Exhibitor was Joanne Hampton.

Always attracting attention was the judging of the scones.

Gloria Hyatt has judged cakes, pickles, jams and scones for more than 40 years and named Ben Boyce the winner of “Best Scone”.

Also in the Pavilion was the Duellists Fencing Club Coffs Harbour, whose members demonstrated games and drills, and the Banana Growers Association, which displayed and shared locally grown bananas.

People got their petting fix at Old MacDonald’s Farm enclosure while the woodcraft showroom showed and sold all manner of wooden goods.

The onsite groups Coffs Harbour Creative Arts Group and the Coffs Coast Railroad Modellers opened their doors to visitors.

“We had a great show, even though Friday was a disappointment with the weather,” Ms Hamilton said.

“There were a good amount of entries in the Horse Section and Pony Club events.”

The Cattle Show featured several breeds with Hideaway Park Murray Grey Stud named the Supreme Beef Exhibit Winner.
