LIFEWALK, a 2.5-kilometre harbourside community walk, steps out on Saturday 30 May to raise funds for the work of LifeHouse Care.
The local charity, now in its 30th year, provides crisis relief and assistance to people experiencing hardship, with the much-anticipated walk serving as the organisation’s major annual fundraiser.
“Celebrating five years of the walk, the team hopes it will attract hundreds of people to take part,” LifeHouse Care’s Nathan Hannaford told News Of The Area.
Starting and finishing at Jetty Reserve, this year’s new, accessible route takes walkers along the North Wall to the base of Muttonbird Island and back, with ocean views the whole way.
Participants can arrive at 7am for live music, hot coffee, bacon and egg rolls, and a welcoming community atmosphere before the walk begins at 8am.
“After the walk, stay for a sausage sizzle, conversation, and celebration together,” Mr Hannaford said.
Each year, 50 percent of all funds raised through LifeWalk are allocated for the direct practical assistance of vulnerable people struggling to meet their daily needs.
The remaining 50 percent of funds raised goes towards the continued work of LifeHouse Care in the local community.
“At a time when many individuals and families are doing it tough, LifeWalk is about showing up for one another and helping bring practical support, hope, and encouragement to people across the Coffs Coast,” Mr Hannaford said.
“Bring your friends, family, work mates, or business/community group and be part of something meaningful.”
LifeHouse Care is the local community mission that flows out of LifeHouse Church, with locations along the Coffs Coast, Bellingen Shire, South Grafton and in Moree.
