AUSSIE Rules returns to the Coffs Coast this weekend with opening round matches in the 2026 AFL North Coast season to get underway in Sawtell and Woolgoolga.
Men’s
Coffs Harbour Breakers begin their premiership defence in Woolgoolga, when they take on the Northern Beaches Blues on Saturday afternoon at the Wiigulga Sports Complex.
The Northern Beaches Blues will be making their return to the first-grade competition this season.
Last season’s runners-up the Sawtell/Toormina Saints begin their season at home when they host the Port Macquarie Magpies on Saturday afternoon at Richardson Park.
After making a return to senior footy in 2025, the Macleay Valley Eagles will not be fielding a side this season, while the Grafton Tigers will only field a reserve grade side.
Women’s
Coffs Harbour Breakers women begin their premiership defence by taking on the Northern Beaches Blues at the Wiigulga Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Breakers will try to become the first team to defend their premiership since the women’s competition began in 2018.
Sawtell/Toormina Saints begin their season at home when they host the Port Macquarie Magpies at Richardson Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints will try to go one better this season after finishing runners-up last year.
Under 18s
The Saints Under 18s team also get their season underway on Saturday when they take on the Port Macquarie Magpies at Richardson Park, in a rematch of last season’s grand final.
Reserves teams play their first matches of the season on Saturday 18 April.
