STORM season is in full swing on the Coffs Coast, and for Jetty resident Harvey Ward it provides an opportunity to watch with awe as the sky splits with flashes of lightning, the thunder booms and cracks, and the dusky clouds bloom and intensify from puffy and grey to dense and dark.
Poised with just his iPhone, Mr Ward enjoys capturing the sights offshore.
“These photos were snapped from my balcony overlooking the ocean at the Jetty in Coffs Harbour,” he told News Of The Area.
“The most amazing thing during this storm was that there was no sound with sheet lightning blazing behind the clouds over the dark ocean.”
He described seeing kaleidoscopic dramatic colours against a silent backdrop.
“It was breathtaking, relentless, lasting hours as it moved north over the Solitary Islands…each looking turbulent, menacing and apocalyptic.”
He snapped the photos with his iPhone and was able to contrast the yellow green jetty lights, the blue harbour guidance system and the blinking red beacons on the breakwaters.
“What a divine fireworks display of God’s grandeur,” he said.
