IN a musical coup, Coffs Harbour Music Society is hosting one of the best jazz pianists in the world, as Joe Chindamo performs at John Paul College Theatre on Saturday 11 July.
“Our jazz-loving audiences will flock to this concert,” the music mociety’s president, Dr Leigh Summers, told News Of The Area.
While Joe is currently distinguishing himself as a classical composer and performer, he remains compelled by his love of jazz piano.
The local music society is “delighted to lure Joe to Coffs Harbour”, where he will perform on the society’s “wonderful Kawai RX 7 grand piano”.
“Our lucky audience can expect an exceptional concert composed of classics from the Great American song book, along with film scores, improvisations and an occasional opera aria – all delivered with a Chindamo twist,” Dr Summers said.
“Joe’s concert will be an absolute magnet for dedicated lovers of jazz but will undoubtedly also attract and impress the jazz-curious.”
A free talk for Mr Chindamo’s concert begins an hour before the main event, hosted by 2MBS Sydney Jazz presenter Deborah Evans.
Deborah has 20 years’ experience programming jazz for radio and is a self-confessed Joe Chindamo groupie.
“Her talk will be illustrated and no doubt hilarious.”
Ms Evans is a vibrant and knowledgeable presenter.
