SAWTELL is one of 10 regional towns to share $2 million in funding to grow their night-time economies.
The town’s Chamber of Commerce and “Another Tasty Event” are now combining to plan a program of activities following their successful application to the Regional Night-time Economy Project.
Under the program pilot, regional business collectives across the state will receive support to develop thriving, vibrant local economies – day and night.
Developed in response to feedback from regional businesses, councils and industry groups, the pilot will offer tailored capacity-building bootcamps for each collective.
As well as Sawtell, funding will support business collectives in Bathurst, Byron Bay, the Hunter Valley, Lennox Head, Milton, Murrumbateman, Murwillumbah, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.
These communities will develop strategies, plans and ideas for marketing campaigns, activations and events.
Minister for Small Business and Minister for the North Coast Janelle Saffin said: “We know that people are seeking out nightlife experiences closer to home, and this program will enable regional business groups to collaborate and highlight what their region has to offer – not just during major or community events but all year round.
“This round of the program is a pilot, providing an opportunity to test the approach, learn from the outcomes and inform future program expansion.”
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh congratulated Sawtell Chamber of Commerce and Another Tasty Event on their “collective vision for the development of a thriving, vibrant local economy”.
