Kevin Hogan earns fifth term as Page MP

NATIONALS MP Kevin Hogan has earned a fifth term as the Page electorate’s Federal representative, after a resounding election victory on Saturday.

Mr Hogan took 60.00 percent of the Two-candidate preferred (TCP) vote, soundly beating Labor candidate Wendy Backhous (39.26 percent).

“It is very humbling to be re-elected with an increase in my primary vote,” Mr Hogan said on Sunday.

“I thank everyone for their continued support.

“I acknowledge the other candidates, who were a great and interesting group of people, all reflecting our wonderfully diverse community.”

Mr Hogan thanked his family, volunteers and staff for their support during the campaign.

Acknowledging the challenges currently being faced across the country, Mr Hogan said he was “optimistic about our future due the character of the Australian people”.

The Nationals candidate received 45.72 percent of the first preference vote, with Ms Backhous receiving 21.83 percent.

Next best was Luke Robinson from the Greens on 14.80 percent.

Of the remaining candidates, only Peter Nottle from One Nation achieved more than five percent of the first preference vote.
