LETTER: Woolgoolga Telstra woes

DEAR News Of The Area,

I READ with interest the article in your paper regarding Telstra’s work on the 4G Network around Dorrigo (‘Telstra outage continues around Dorrigo, Coffs Coast NOTA, 25/9/2026).

Not a thing was said about Telstra’s NBN (Internet) network being off-air for up to four hours almost every afternoon in the Woolgoolga area.

This has been going on for two or three months now.

When one rings the Telstra help number, all you get is a recorded response, which places you absolutely nowhere.

I tried and was told by this automated response that the Australian Telstra technicians were ‘off’ and I would have to wait for an overseas international technician.

What sort of service is that?

Even the Telstra shop assistants cannot help as it is not in their remit to report faults or contact Telstra’s NBN technicians.

Telstra is very quick to charge their clients and cut them off if there is a delay in payment but do not offer any explanation or recompense for the frustration at not being able to complete one’s work and the inconvenience experienced.

I wonder how many other people in the area are experiencing this problem?

I am sure we can’t be the only ones.

Regards,

Shirley Boothman,

Woolgoolga.
