AFTER several years of taking residents from Autumn Lodge and Riverside Gardens on scenic trike rides, Nambucca Valley Rotary is now opening the experience to the wider community.
Since 2019, Rotary volunteers have been taking aged care residents on rides around Macksville and along the V-Wall, giving many people the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and local scenery.
The trike, which is powered by a Rotarian using pedal power with electric assistance, can carry two passengers at a time with a combined maximum weight of 150 kilograms.
Growing interest from other members of the community wanting to enjoy the experience has prompted Rotary to make the rides available to the public.
“Due to the number of inquiries from locals we are pretty sure that we will have no shortage of people wanting to experience the river from our trike,” Nambucca Valley Rotary’s Dave Banks told News Of The Area.
“We hope that visitors to the area will also come and enjoy a ride also.”
Beginning on Mother’s Day, Sunday 10 May, two people at a time will be able to enjoy a trike ride every Sunday between 12.30pm and 4pm.
The ride will begin at the Big Pelican in Nambucca Heads before travelling to Gordon Park and then out to the end of the V-Wall before returning to the starting point.
The round trip takes about 25 minutes and will cost $5 per person.
Passengers will be able to pay by either cash or card.
Funds raised from the rides will help Nambucca Valley Rotary continue supporting youth programs and local community projects throughout the valley.
