VALLEY Braves have hosted the Coffs Coast’s biggest annual junior basketball carnival.

The 11th annual Bronwyn Vigors Pacific Challenge featured three big days of basketball played at Sportz Central and the Wiigulga Sports Complex.

The carnival started in 2015 and is named after former Braves President and co-founder Bronwyn Vigors, who passed away in 2016.

The three-day carnival featured 76 teams from across Northern New South Wales and Queensland, as representative players prepared for the upcoming season.

The Coffs Harbour Suns won the Under 13s Girls Division 1 title, while the Suns’ Under 17s Girls Division 1 team finished runners up.

A Valley Braves club spokesperson gave a rundown of this year’s Bronwyn Vigors Pacific Challenge.

“The 11th Annual Bronwyn Vigors Pacific Challenge was another incredible weekend of basketball,” they said.

“A massive thank you to all the clubs, teams, coaches, managers, players, referees, volunteers, and spectators who contributed to making this year’s event another standout success.

“The sportsmanship, energy, and community spirit that define the Bronwyn Vigors Pacific Challenge were on full display from the very first tip-off to the final buzzer.

“The standard of basketball was exceptional once again: games filled with skill, grit, teamwork, and edge-of-your-seat moments.

“Every team brought passion and heart, creating a weekend full of highlights and memories that remind us why this tournament is so special.

“Congratulations to all players for your outstanding performances throughout the weekend.

“Valley Braves Basketball is incredibly proud to host the Pacific Challenge each year, providing a competitive and positive platform for teams from across NSW and QLD.

“Watching this event continue to grow and strengthen is something we value deeply.”
