LETTER: Expensive by-election may rekindle outrage at behaviour that caused it

DEAR News Of The Area,

IT is easy to be critical of Cr Amos for his resignation timing, thus causing a costly by-election.

If it draws attention to the majority of councillors’ apparent total disregard for the seemingly overwhelming opposition to the jetty foreshore residential development, his strategy may well prove stoic yet futile.

It seems the current majority of councillors are willing cheerleaders for a Gold Coast-style vision at odds with most Coffs Harbour residents.

The by-election will once again draw the voters into the debate, rekindling the outrage at the current majority  intransigence.

The issue will not go away.

Regards,

Peter Lewis,

Park Beach.
