Service station employee critically injured after being runover by ute – Coffs Harbour

A WOMAN has been charged and a man was critically injured following an incident at a Coffs Harbour petrol station overnight.

Emergency services were called to Harbour Drive about 7pm on Tuesday, 20 October, responding to reports that a 36-year-old man was trapped under a ute on a service station forecourt.

Members of the public initially rendered first aid to the man before NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW SES personnel attended and freed him.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a critical condition.

The man has now been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

The alleged driver of the ute, a 44-year-old woman, underwent mandatory testing before she was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where she was charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and breach of bail.

She’s been refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 1 later today (Wednesday 21 October 2026).

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District have been told the man was checking fuel tank levels near the north-western side of the forecourt when the incident occurred.
