THE Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow brought big laughs to the Jetty Theatre on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June as part of the 2026 Jetty Theatre Season Program.
Australia’s biggest comedy festival was on the road delivering a curated line-up of comedy legends and emerging talent from Australia and beyond.
The Roadshow continued its long-running mission of bringing the festival experience to regional audiences, offering a fast-paced, all-in-one night of stand-up and live comedy.
The two nights drew a combined 504 attendees, with both shows selling out completely.
Jetty Theatre Coordinator Natalie Boyle said the event was a standout on the venue’s calendar.
“The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow delivered two absolutely sold-out nights at the Jetty Theatre, bringing incredible energy and big laughs,” she said.
“The calibre of comedians, combined with the enthusiasm of our audiences, created an unforgettable atmosphere. It’s a highlight of our program each year and a testament to the community’s strong support for live performance.” Audience members praised the show, with one audience member saying, “So exciting to see some truly talented fresh youngsters coming up through the ranks, and experienced host Carl Donnelly was great, super funny and kept the show rolling.”
The evening delivered a fast-paced mix of comedy styles, with audiences treated to everything from sharp observational humour to experimental performance elements.
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow has toured nationally for almost three decades, bringing giggles, guffaws and good times across the country.
This year’s cast featured a strong mix of international and Australian talent, including Carl Donnelly (UK), the host known for his laid-back storytelling and observational humour; Ben Hunter, an Australian comedian recognised for his offbeat and energetic style; Con Coutis, a Melbourne performer who stood out for blending traditional stand-up with live sound effects, carving out a distinctive new genre within the comedy scene; Kate Dolan, an emerging voice praised for her bold storytelling and sharp writing; and Meg Jäger, a rising comedian known for her acerbic observational humour and growing list of award nominations.
