Bandaluzia returns in a blaze of rhythm and dance

BANDALUZIA returns to Coffs Harbour on Saturday 13 September with a breathtaking new show at the Jetty Memorial Theatre.

This acclaimed ensemble blends the fire and passion of Spanish flamenco with bold contemporary influences, creating performances that are as thrilling as they are unforgettable.

Expect the great canon of flamenco intertwined with the rich harmonies of jazz, the exotic melodies of the Orient, the infectious rhythms of South America, and even touches of Debussy and Radiohead.

Led by ARIA-nominated guitarist Damian Wright – praised by The Sydney Morning Herald for his “glorious guitar playing” – Bandaluzia is celebrated for its unique sound, powerful performances and explosive displays of dazzling musicianship. Joining Wright are some of Australia’s most accomplished artists: dancers Jessica Statham and Rosalie Cocchiaro, percussionist James Hauptmann (James Morrison, Vince Jones, Bluejuice), and violinist Yuhki Mayne (Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Victorian Opera, Opera Australia Orchestra).

Bandaluzia’s artistry has graced some of the nation’s most prestigious stages, from WOMADelaide and Musica Viva’s national tour to the Adelaide International Guitar Festival and a sold-out Sydney Opera House Concert Hall for TEDxSydney.

They were also awarded “The Pick of the Sydney Fringe” at the Sydney Fringe Festival.

Renowned for honouring flamenco’s roots while pushing its boundaries, Bandaluzia delivers performances that ignite the senses, from the percussive magic of the dancers’ footwork to the soaring melodies and intricate rhythms of the music. Their return to Coffs Harbour promises an evening of passion, virtuosity and artistry that will linger long after the final beat.
