AFL North Coast’s best junior players have spent their school holidays representing their region.
The North Coast Force’s junior representative teams took part in the annual Northern NSW Championship, held at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium and surrounding fields.
North Coast Force’s Under 17s, Under 15s, and Under 13s Boys and Girls teams took on visiting regions from across regional NSW.
The Force teams took on representative sides from the Central Coast, Hunter, Northern Rivers, North West, Sapphire Coast, and South Coast.
The North Coast Force’s Under 17s Boys and Girls teams were the standouts, both going through undefeated after winning all six of their matches.
The North Coast Force’s Under 13s Boys team also excelled, winning five of their six matches.
North Coast Force’s Under 17s Girls coach Matt Crawley explained the main reasons for the team’s success at the carnival.
“There are some very talented players who are in the QBE Sydney Swans Academy in the age group this year so that helps,” he said.
“We had a fit squad of players ready to go at the start of the carnival and didn’t really strike any injury issues until the last couple of games in the carnival.
“All the girls wanted to achieve some success and were prepared to put in a lot of effort and play as a team rather than individuals.
“They were all very coachable and showed a lot of improvement throughout this year’s footy season and across the three days of the carnival.”
